The Los Angeles Dodgers had their three-game winning streak snapped but still produced a handful of highlights against the San Diego Padres.

Chris Taylor led off the bottom of the first inning with a home run, adding to what’s been an encouraging hot streak after a slow start to the season. Then in the fourth inning, Justin Turner led off with a home run, which was his first of the year.

Turner has been on a tear since coming off the disabled list, batting .282/.364/.436 with three doubles, the one home run and six RBI over 11 games; the Dodgers have gone 8-3 during that stretch.

Defensively, Joc Pederson flashed a strong and accurate arm to temporarily prevent the Padres from tying the game. After A.J. Ellis led off the fifth inning with a home run, Manuel Margot followed with a double.

A sacrifice bunt advanced Margot to third base for Travis Jankowski. He lined out to Pederson in left field, who then threw home to get Margot by a few steps for an inning-ending double play.

Although Pederson has lost a starting job in the outfield, he regularly has been called on as a late-game defensive replacement. Saturday was his 26th start and 47th overall game.
