The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Miami Marlins, 10-3, to complete a series sweep and extend their winning streak at Dodger Stadium to nine games.
Ryan Pepiot got off to a shaky start but escaped some early trouble and got through six innings with just two runs allowed. The quality start was Pepiot’s first of his career and seven strikeouts were the most he’s collected in any start for the Dodgers thus far.
Pepiot was aided in the first inning by Joey Gallo throwing a strike to home plate to get Joey Wendle on his attempt to score from second base on Brian Anderson’s single. The outfield assist was Gallo’s first with the Dodgers.
He later added a diving catch in left field and hit a triple that set the table for Cody Bellinger.

Bellinger’s two-run home run off Sandy Alcántara extended the Dodgers’ lead to 3-0 in the second inning. The homer was Bellinger’s 150th of his career. Max Muncy added an RBI single in the third, and hits by Mookie Betts and Will Smith put the Dodgers up 6-2 in the fourth.
Prior to Sunday, Alcántara had not allowed a run in each of the first three innings of any start this season. Smith’s ground-rule RBI double chased Alcántara out of the game with two outs in the inning. The six runs Alcántara allowed were a season high.
That also raised his season ERA to 2.19, which made Tony Gonsolin the leader among qualified National League pitchers at 2.12.
The Dodgers scored again in the seventh inning behind a Muncy home run, and pushed three more across in the eighth to break the game open.
Dodgers walk-up songs
Players went up to bat or took the mound with songs picked by their significant others in honor of Women’s Day at Dodger Stadium. Though, Hanser Alberto and Gallo selected each other’s walk-up songs.
