The Los Angeles Dodgers completed a comeback victory against the Pittsburgh Pirates thanks to back-to-back home runs from J.D. Martinez and David Peralta.
The Pirates took a quick 1-0 lead when Bryan Reynolds greeted Bobby Miller with a solo home run in the first inning. Pittsburgh continued to add on in the fourth when Jack Suwinski blasted a three-run shot to put them up 4-0.
In the bottom of the inning, Jason Heyward’s sacrifice fly to put L.A. on the board and Miguel Rojas followed with an RBI single to cut the Pirates’ lead to just two runs.
The Dodgers took the lead in the fifth when J.D. Martinez hit a three-run homer that put them up 5-4, and Peralta followed with a solar home run to give them some insurance.
Actually thought Miller looked a lot better today than his last start despite giving up a run more. Mistakes get hit more often sometimes. 7 K. pic.twitter.com/AqKwxiAEDW

The Pirates began to rally in the seventh when they loaded the bases with no one out against Phil Bickford. He was replaced by Ryan Brasier, who pulled off his best Houdini act and recorded three straight outs to prevent Pittsburgh from scoring.
Daniel Hudson was called on for the save opportunity in the ninth, which was just his third game back since returning from ACL surgery last season. The Pirates once again loaded the bases with a ground-rule double and two walks.
But from there, Hudson settled in to strike out Henry Davis for the first out and forced Carlos Santana to fly out. The red-hot Suwinski was the last batter Hudson needed to retire, and he ended up striking him out swinging to record his first save of the year.
Dodgers pitching staff living dangerously
Bobby Miller gave up four runs over 5.2 innings, allowing five hits and one walk while striking out seven. It was another inconsistent start for the rookie, who seems to have one bad inning each time out.
Although Bickford, Brasier, Caleb Ferguson and Hudson all had a zero in their runs allowed column, they walked a combined four batters and gave up four hits over just 3.1 innings. The Dodgers bullpen collectively will need to limit baserunners more moving forward to find continued success.
