After Wednesday night’s game was postponed, the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants played a doubleheader at Oracle Park on Thursday, with both games being seven innings in length.
The Dodgers dropped the first game of the series in extra innings, but they bounced back with two shutout wins, 7-0 and 2-0 in the doubleheader. The Dodgers remain the only team in baseball that hasn’t lost a series this season.
Clayton Kershaw took the mound in the first game and continued his strong start to the season, tossing six shutout innings while allowing just four hits with four strikeouts and zero walks.
He earned the win to improve to 4-1 on the season to go along with a 1.80 ERA and 0.77 WHIP.
L.A. got the scoring started in the bottom of the first when Mookie Betts walked to lead things off and then scored on a groundout by Cody Bellinger. Later in the game, Betts recorded a single to left to reach the 1,000 career hit milestone.
The Dodgers’ big inning came in the fourth when they scored four more runs to break the game open. Austin Barnes had the big hit, a two-run double, and then Joc Pederson and Corey Seager each contributed RBI singles.
AJ Pollock put the cherry on top of the victory by belting a two-run home run in the seventh inning, his sixth of the season. Pollock reached base three times in the game on two hits and a walk.
Bullpen, Pederson come through in Game 2
In the second game of the series, the Dodgers turned to their bullpen to get them through all seven innings after Walker Buehler was placed on the 10-day injured list with a blister.
As they have all season, the Dodgers bullpen answered the call by shutting out the Giants for the second time in as many games to earn another victory.

Caleb Ferguson got the start and tossed a scoreless inning, followed by Victor Gonzalez, who retired all seven hitters he faced. It wasn’t until a single by Brandon Belt in the first inning that the Dodgers’ staff allowed a baserunner.
Pederson provided a majority of the offense in the game, hitting a solo home run to center in the second inning for his fifth of the season.
He then later doubled down the right-field line and was driven in by Will Smith, who hit a double of his own into the gap.
