The Los Angeles Dodgers have experienced a baby boom of sorts this season, with Mookie Betts, Caleb Ferguson, Brusdar Graterol, Max Muncy and Evan Phillips all going on the paternity list as their respective families grew.
In conjunction with Father’s Day being celebrated, another batch of Dodgers players and their significant other will soon be welcoming a child into the world.
Yency Almonte and wife Tori announced on Instagram that they are expecting a baby “very soon.” Kirsten Watson of SportsNet LA said on a recent broadcast that the child is due in July.
Chris Taylor and wife Mary Keller also revealed they are having a child in the near future. The couple, along with Yency and Tori, got married during the offseason. The Taylors subsequently announced they are having a boy.
And though the news wasn’t announced on social media, David Peralta and wife Jordan Laria are expecting another child as well. Peralta wore custom cleats that included the message, “Baby Peralta coming soon” for the Dodgers’ Father’s Day game.
Dave Roberts enjoying seeing Dodgers becoming dads
With Ferguson, Graterol and Phillips becoming first-time fathers, and Almonte and Taylor soon to join the list, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts has enjoyed watching them enter new phases of their lives.
“It’s cool to see. Some of these guys are growing up. Fatherhood makes you do that,” Roberts said.
“I think for me, the main thing is they sort of have a different perspective on life and baseball in general. Some of the things that guys used to sweat, the small stuff, they’re not as critical as other things. So there’s more perspective there, which rightfully so.”
