Dodger Stadium is one of the most iconic locations in Los Angeles and now it’s been immortalized in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on Nintendo Switch as part of a new package of tracks available to download.

The Booster Course Pass, which costs $25 on the Nintendo eShop, includes 48 new courses to race on, including “Los Angeles Laps” as part of their recent set of new tracks released on July 12.

The race, which is the first course in the Cherry Cup, takes players on a Nintendo-styled tour of L.A. with multiple landmarks from the city featured in the game, including the Santa Monica Pier, Griffith Observatory, Venice Beach, the Los Angeles Convention Center, the Inglewood Oil Fields, Hotel Angeleno and Beverly Hills.

At one point in the race, players are launched over Dodger Stadium and fly over the field with a packed house of cheering fans made up of Shy Guys, Mushroom People and Koopas before exiting past center field.

Hovering over the stadium are gold coins in the shape of a baseball for racers to collect, which when acquired, increase the speed of the kart.

Some of the standout features of the stadium are included with the hexagon scoreboards, the wavy awnings over the outfield seats, and even a palm tree past the left field bullpen. Nintendo also made sure to add the advertisements across the outfield wall from Mario universe references with Morton Construction, Bullet Bill Speed Trial, Shy Guy Metals and one for Red Shell.

One aspect that makes “Los Angeles Laps” unique compared to other maps is the course has three separate routes with their own finish line, meaning each lap takes place in a different part of the track. So rather than drive around the track multiple times seeing the same sights as is the case on other courses, each section of L.A. is only experienced once in the race.

Dodger Stadium is part of the third lap, which also includes Beverly Hills.

Dodger Stadium on Nintendo Switch

Dodger Stadium came to the Nintendo Switch for the first time in 2022 with the release of MLB The Show on the handheld console for the first time. The newest version of the game, MLB The Show 23, was also released on Nintendo’s platform this year and offers gamers the most realistic baseball simulation game on a portable device.
