The Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the Colorado Rockies in a thrilling National League Wild Card Game and will next face the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL Division Series. The playoff meeting between the Dodgers and Diamondbacks marks a first.
First pitch of Game 1 is set for 7:31 p.m. PT on Friday, Oct. 6, at Dodger Stadium. Game 2 will also be played at Chavez Ravine, beginning at 6:08 p.m., before the best-of-five series shifts to the desert for a Game 3 on Monday.
If necessary, Game 4 will be played Tuesday, also at Chase Field. Start times for Games 3 and 4 have not yet been announced. The Dodgers lost the season series to the Diamondbacks, 8-11. Included in that was getting swept in consecutive three-game series.
Los Angeles reached the playoffs a franchise-record fifth consecutive season. They finished the 2017 regular season with the best record in baseball and therefore earned home-field advantage through the World Series.
The Diamondbacks are in the playoffs for a sixth time in franchise history, and for the first time since 2011. They’ve only advanced past the NLDS on two occasions, including 2001 when they won the World Series.
Considering the Diamondbacks started Zack Greinke and used Robbie Ray out of the bullpen in the Wild Card Game, they face a decision for a starter in Game 1. Prior to his relief appearance, it was presumed to be Ray.
