The Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants were in a competitive race for the National League West crown all the way through Game 162 of the regular season, then played all five games in the NL Division Series.

It took a lot of energy from both teams, but Dodgers manager Dave Roberts doesn’t believe fatigue is affecting his club as they play deeper into the postseason and face a 2-0 deficit in the NL Championship Series.

“I don’t. I think two innings, obviously they have had two big innings to take the lead, and the series could be flipped,” Roberts said. “Like I said before, our guys are prepared to play through October.

“So it was a great series, but I don’t think that there’s any kind of effects from that past series. I don’t.”

The Dodgers have put themselves in a tough spot of needing to win four of the potential five remaining games in order to advance to the World Series.

Although the Dodgers went into the NLCS matchup as the favorite, Roberts hasn’t been caught off guard by the Braves’ play and their winning two games.

“Nothing’s really surprised me,” Roberts said. “We knew coming in they’re very aggressive swinging the bat, especially early in the count. You really got to make a quality pitch that first pitch getting into the count.

“They’re aggressive, they play, they can catch the baseball. And so nothing’s really surprised us, no.”

Taylor: Dodgers excited to be back at Dodger Stadium

After the Dodgers suffered a second consecutive walk-off loss, Chris Taylor acknowledged time spent on the road last week and traveling has had an impact on the club.

Taylor believed the day off before the Dodgers could return to Dodger Stadium would suit the club well and he anticipated improved play.
