Manager Dave Roberts sent a congratulatory message this week to 11 local non-profit organizations that were recipients of grant funds from the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation (LADF).

“Congratulations to the fourth quarter Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation grant recipients,” Roberts began in the video. “After a rigorous three-month process, you’ve been awarded funding to support the amazing work you do.

“As a team manager, I know what goes into leading your teams to the big wins. Congratulations on this win.”

The recipients of grants to finish out the year were Alliance for Children’s Rights, College Track, CSUN Roy and Roxie Campanella Physical Therapy Scholarship, Extraordinary Families, the Good Plus Foundation, L.A. LGBT Center, Natasha Watley Foundation, National Foster Youth Institute Raise a Child, Playworks, and The Posse Foundation.

The grants support a range of programs and organizations, including investments in foster youth, food insecurity, physical activity, scholarships, college access and success, and more.

“Now more than ever we are pleased to be able to support local organizations with grants, programs and initiatives focused on pressing problems impacting those who need us most,” Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation CEO Nichol Whiteman said in a statement.

“Partnership remains the key to our overall success. These investments in the local community are made possible due to the tremendous generosity of Dodger fans, corporate supporters, foundations, individuals, municipal agencies and more.”

The Dodgers’ Foundation has awarded $6.2 million in grants for 2021, marking the most its ever distributed in a single year.

Total 2021 grants include 43% to organizations addressing homelessness and its root causes, 35% to education, 15% to sports-based youth development and 7% to healthcare.

Furthermore, through the Dodgers RBI program, LADF afforded nearly 10,000 youth the opportunity to return to play at 76 locations throughout Los Angeles and Long Beach at no cost.

Dodgers Dreamfields project

Along with grant giving this year, the LADF continued with its Dodgers Dreamfields projects and recently broke ground at Maywood Park for what will become the 58th site.
