The Milwaukee Brewers and Los Angeles Dodgers begin their best-of-three Wild Card Series on Wednesday night at Dodger Stadium. First pitch for Game 1 is set for 7:08 p.m. PT, with ESPN carrying the national broadcast.

Game 2 on Thursday is also set for a 7:08 p.m. start time, and if necessary, Game 3 will be played Friday. First pitch of a potential winner-take-all scenario is either 3:38 p.m. or 4:08 p.m. That hinges on whether or not the St. Louis Cardinals and San Diego Padres also play to a Game 3.

If that Wild Card Series goes the distance and the Dodgers and Brewers also require a Game 3, it would be played at the later start time. L.A. and Milwaukee are playing the entire Wild Card round at Dodger Stadium by virtue of the Dodgers clinching the No. 1 seed in the National League.

With the Dodgers already having named Walker Buehler their Game 1 starter, it wasn’t until Tuesday evening that Brewers manager Craig Counsell said his club is handing the ball to Brent Suter.

The left-hander started just four of his 16 games this year, with his longest outing being four innings in Suter’s last appearance of the regular season on Sept. 25. That suggests Milwaukee will rely heavily on a stout bullpen, a similar blueprint they had against the Dodgers in the 2018 NL Championship Series.

The Dodgers are starting Clayton Kershaw in Game 2, with the Brewers countering with Brandon Woodruff. Both teams have yet to announce a starter for a potential Game 3.

“I think for us, we still have some options. It’s nice knowing that you have Walker and Clayton going in Game 1 and Game 2,” Dodgers manager Dave Robert said.

“However you want to use those relievers — you’re speaking specifically to Julio, Dustin and Tony, to then have those guys ready in any one of those games and see how (Games) 1 and 2 plays out, I think we’ll know more then. Right now we’re just trying to keep it open.”
