The Los Angeles Dodgers (7-3) will look to continue their hot play on Monday when they visit the San Diego Padres (6-4) in the opener of a three-game series at Petco Park. The Dodgers opened as -130 road favorites at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com against the Padres, with Walker Buehler (0-0, 4.91 ERA) toeing the rubber opposite Chris Paddack (1-0, 1.64) for the home team.
Paddack would seem to have a slight advantage over Buehler based on how they have each pitched so far this season, as he has allowed just two runs and 10 hits in 11 innings with one walk and 10 strikeouts.
Those are numbers Los Angeles supporters are accustomed to seeing for Buehler, who has made only one start so far this year, giving up two runs and three hits in 3.2 innings of a 5-2 win over the Houston Astros last Tuesday.
The Dodgers obviously still got the victory there, cashing as -150 road betting favorites at online betting sites to start a 5-1 run in the last six games.
Los Angeles is coming off a series win over the Arizona Diamondbacks, taking two of three games, including a 3-0 shutout on Sunday as a -185 road favorite. Meanwhile, San Diego dropped two of three to the Colorado Rockies away from home to fall a full game behind first place.
The Padres lost the last two games of the series, and this will be the first time this season they have actually been true underdogs at plus-money.
The last two games of this series look to feature intriguing pitching matchups as well, especially Tuesday’s matchup between Los Angeles’ Dustin May (0-0, 2.35) and San Diego’s Dinelson Lamet (1-0, 1.80).
Bettors should expect the Dodgers to be favored again there along with Wednesday’s finale, which pits Ross Stripling (2-0, 2.92) versus Garrett Richards (0-0, 3.38), who has not gone a full six innings in either of his two starts.
