As the Los Angeles Dodgers remain hopeful a handful of 40-man roster players will soon report to Dodger Stadium for Summer Camp, the team added to its player pool by way of selections from the 2020 MLB Draft and other Minor Leaguers in the organization.
The latest wave of players added comprised of Michael Busch, Anthony Garcia, Landon Knack, Bobby Miller, Ryan Pepiot, Edubray Ramos and Carson Taylor. Miller (first round), Knack (second round) and Taylor (fourth round) were selected by the Dodgers in this year’s Draft.
Busch (first round) and Pepiot (third round) were selected by the Dodgers in last year’s Draft. Fellow 2020 MLB Draft picks Clayton Beeter (Competitive Balance B) and Jake Vogel (third round) were previously added to the 60-man player pool.
Also on Friday, the Dodgers welcomed Gavin Lux to Summer Camp. He missed the first week of workouts for an unspecified reason. Lux joined the team two days after Tony Gonsolin reported.
With Gonsolin and Lux now present, the Dodgers are awaiting the arrivals of Scott Alexander, Pedro Baez, Kenley Jansen, AJ Pollock and Keibert Ruiz. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts spoke with Jansen on Thursday and said the Dodgers closer is in “really good spirits and feeling good.”
The Dodgers now have 60 players in their player pool — the most allotted — and many of whom continue to work out at the USC alternate training site. Garcia participated in Friday’s intrasquad game, slugging a home run off pitching prospect Gerardo Carrillo.
Roberts said it was “fair” to expect Pepiot and Diego Cartaya to both appear in an intrasquad game at some point.
No longer included in the player pool are David Price (opted out of 2020 season) and Jimmy Nelson (back surgery). The Dodgers reportedly were poised to add Devin Mann, but doing so would require replacing someone in the group.
