With Cody Bellinger going yard in the first inning against the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Los Angeles Dodgers broke the MLB record with 33 consecutive home games with a home run. The mark was previously held by the 1999 Colorado Rockies who slugged a homer in 33 straight games at hitter’s haven Coors Field.

The Dodgers’ streak dates back to Aug. 21 2018, when Manny Machado launched a solo home run off Adam Wainwright in a loss to the St. Louis Cardinals. Since then, and including Bellinger’s shot and Austin Barnes’ homer, the Dodgers have combined to hit 62 home runs at Dodger Stadium during their streak.

Although it encompassed three road contests, they began the 2019 season by hitting at least one home run in 10 straight games. L.A. threatened the all-time National League record of a homer in 13 games to begin a season, set by the 1954 Chicago Cubs.

The Dodgers’ power display this season has been led by Cody Bellinger, who is now tied for the NL lead with 13 home runs. Despite being limited to starts against right-handed pitching, Joc Pederson is second on the team with 10.

Max Muncy (five), Kiké Hernandez (five), Alex Verdugo (four), Barnes (three), A.J. Pollock (two), Corey Seager (two), Chris Taylor (one), Russell Martin (one), David Freese (one) and Walker Buehler (one) have also contributed to the Dodgers ranking third in home runs (45) this season.

Behind seven players hitting 20 or more — a first in franchise history — the team set a Dodgers record with 235 homers hit during the 2018 regular season. That was after previously setting a franchise high with 221 home runs in 2017.
