The Los Angeles Dodgers selected the contract of Brent Honeywell from Triple-A Oklahoma City and placed Joe Kelly on the 15-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation.

It was one of two moves the Dodgers made on Saturday, which also included Clayton Kershaw being placed on the 15-day injured list and Ben Casparius being recalled.

Kelly pitched 1.2 innings on Friday and gave up two earned runs on three hits while throwing a season-high 43 pitches.

The 13-year veteran owns a 1-1 record through 31 games this year, posting a 5.20 ERA, 4.83 FIP and -0.1 WAR while striking out 30 batters over 27.2 innings and walking 14.

Since rejoining the Dodgers last season, the righty has posted a 2-1 mark in 42 games with 49 strikeouts and 15 holds.

He has been in the Major Leagues for 13 season with St. Louis Cardinals (2012-14), Boston Red Sox (2014-18), Dodgers (2019, 23-24) and Chicago White Sox (2022-23), going 54-38 over 481 games (81 starts) with 762 strikeouts in 834.2 innings.

Dodgers recall Brent Honeywell

Honeywell was added back to the Dodgers 40-man roster with the open spot they had after designating Jason Heyward for assignment.

Honeywell was previously designated for assignment by the Dodgers due to a roster crunch and need for an additional bullpen arm, but he cleared waivers and opted to stay in the organization, rather than testing free agency.

The right-hander previously went 0-1 with a 2.21 ERA, 4.79 FIP and 1.18 WHIP in 10 appearances for the Dodgers while striking out 12 hitters over 20.1 innings.

Honeywell appeared in two games with OKC, throwing four scoreless innings while giving up three hits, striking out two hitters and walking one.

He spent less than one week with the Pirates and only appeared in two games during that span. Honeywell threw a scoreless inning in his 2024 debut and allowed one run over 2.1 innings on July 10.
