The Los Angeles Dodgers are riding a five-game winning streak out of the All-Star break and now welcome back Tyler Glasnow as they look to remain hot and secure a series victory against the San Francisco Giants.

xx was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City as the corresponding roster move to Glasnow coming off the 15-day injured list. He had been out since July 9 (retroactive to July 6) because of lower back tightness that Glasnow and Dodgers manager Dave Roberts both downplayed concern over.

“Yeah, it’s just like ‘tall guy back’ when you just get like a little twinge,” Glasnow explained last week. “And then it was just with the break coming up, I think they thought it was a good idea to just take a little time, but I feel good now.”

The injury nevertheless prevented Glasnow from starting against the Philadelphia Phillies and he couldn’t play at Globe Life Field after earning a first career All-Star Game selection.

The 30-year-old faced hitters in a simulated game at Dodger Stadium last Friday as a final step to clear before returning.

Glasnow is 8-5 with a 3.47 ERA and 0.93 WHIP through 18 starts this season. He ranks fourth in baseball with 146 strikeouts.

Landon Knack was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City to make room for Glasnow on the active roster.

The Dodgers face Robbie Ray in what’s his Giants debut.

It’s Ray’s first time pitching since undergoing Tommy John surgery at the beginning of the 2023 season. He was with the Seattle Mariners at the time but joined the Giants, along with Mitch Haniger, in an offseason trade for Anthony DeSclafani.

In Ray’s last full Major League season in 2022, he finished 12-12 with a 3.71 ERA, 4.16 FIP and 1.19 WHIP in 32 starts for the Mariners.

Nick Ahmed is making his Dodgers debut hours after his signing with the team. Ahmed was designated for assignment and released by the Giants two weeks ago.

Miguel Rojas was put on the 10-day injured list and the Dodgers designated Ricky Vanasco for assignment.
