Freeway Series Recap: Dodgers Shut Out By Angels

With just two games remaining before the Los Angeles Dodgers resume their regular season campaign, they hosted the Los Angeles Angels for the second and final game at Dodger Stadium before making their way down the 5 freeway for a matchup in Anaheim on Tuesday.

The day started differently than most others with Shohei Ohtani addressing the media before the game rather than Dodgers manager Dave Roberts, as normally happens. Ohtani touched on the legal matters related to his former translator, Ippei Mizuhara, and accused him of theft and numerous lies.

Hours later, the game began, and the Dodgers showed no life throughout the night as they were shut out 6-0 and recorded only three hits in the loss.

Angels starter Reid Detmers turned in a strong outing, throwing five innings while giving up just three hits. He struggled with his command, walking three, and only struck out four, but he was still able to keep the Dodgers off the board.

Gavin Stone made his final start of the spring before he opens the season in the Dodgers rotation. Stone posted mixed results, throwing 4.1 innings while allowing four runs. He only walked one, but he struck out four hitters as well.

Logan O’Hoppe put the Angels on the board in second inning with a three-run homer off Stone, and they never looked back.

Miscommunication between Dodgers prospect Kendall George and Teoscar Hernández allowed a fly ball to drop for a ground-rule double and eventually led to the Angels scoring two runs in the sixth inning.

Dodgers finishing Freeway Series

Next for the Dodgers is the Freeway Series finale, with James Paxton scheduled to take the mound in Anaheim. The team then has an off day before playing their Dodger Stadium opener on March 28.
