The Los Angeles Dodgers announced the entirety of Minor League affiliate coaching staffs for the 2024 season, including their Arizona Complex League (AZL) and two Dominican Summer League (DSL) teams.
Included in that is welcoming the return of five of seven managers from last year, with Juan Apodaca taking over the ACL squad, while Dunior Zerpa and Leury Bonilla pair up to lead respective DSL Dodgers teams.
The ACL and Dominican Summer League teams make up the lowest levels of the Dodgers Minor League system, developing young players and getting them up to speed within the organization.
Apodaca played in nine Minor League seasons after signing with the Boston Red Sox, and eventually reached Triple-A in 2013. Apodaca batted .250 with 40 home runs and 212 RBI in his career.
He would on to play an additional 14 season in the Venezuelan League and Mexican Leagues.
Zerpa has been with the DSL Dodgers for several seasons, while Bonilla is in his first year as a manager for the club.
The Dominican Republic native appeared in parts of 11 Minor League seasons, batting .256 with 42 homers and 284 RBI in 834 games. Bonilla was first signed as an international free agent on May 11, 2009, as an international free agent, with his most recent season as a player coming in 2015.
The DSL Dodgers Bautista won the most recent Dominican Summer league title, which was a factor in the eighth straight season that the organization’s Minor League affiliates combined to post a winning record.
