The Los Angeles Dodgers held their first full-squad workout of 2023 Spring Training on Monday, which coincided with manager Dave Roberts delivering a message to all players in the clubhouse.
Although the Dodgers experienced plenty of roster turnover from a team that set a franchise record with 111 wins, Roberts spoke glowingly about the group and the optimism he has.
Roberts has fully embraced the new wave of players that’s mixing with veterans and holdovers, which was conveyed to the group at Camelback Ranch.
“This is a hungry group, a focused group,” Roberts said. “Like I said, I love this group. I love this team. It’s going to be fun to watch you guys come together.”

Roberts additionally emphasized a need for the group of players to individually and collectively maintain a daily focus throughout the regular season.
That has been a common theme during his first seven seasons as Dodgers manager. More recently, Roberts has taken from late Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant in learning to appreciate the path to success and not simply the result.
As the 2023 Dodgers begin the process of coming together in quest of a World Series, PECOTA projections have them winning the National League West and leading all of baseball in runs scored.
