The Los Angeles Dodgers will begin the 2023 season with an Opening Day matchup at night against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Dodger Stadium on March 30. It’s the first time the Dodgers will play a season opener at home since 2020.
L.A. was originally scheduled to open the 2022 season with a home matchup against the Colorado Rockies, but the first two weeks of games were rescheduled due to the MLB lockout. They instead played their first game at Dodger Stadium on April 14 against the Cincinnati Reds.
While the Dodger Stadium opener is traditionally an afternoon start, first pitch against the Reds came at 7:10 p.m. PT. It was only the fourth time in the last 46 years the Dodgers played their first home game at night.
That streak will continue this year as the Dodgers’ Opening Day matchup against the Diamondbacks has a 7:10 p.m. start time. L.A. also played night home openers in 1995, 2011 and 2020.
The Dodgers went 14-5 against the Diamondbacks last season, including 6-3 at Dodger Stadium. L.A. will only face Arizona 13 times this year as part of the new balanced schedule where all teams will face each other throughout the season.
Dodgers 2023 schedule highlights
The Dodgers will face the San Francisco Giants for the first time during the 2023 season at Oracle Park from April 10-12. Their first series with the San Diego Padres is also on the road, from May 5-7.
The Dodgers and Tampa Bay Rays meet for the first time since the 2020 World Series during a three-game set at Tropicana Field from May 26-28. The New York Yankees come to L.A. for three games on June 2-4, and the Houston Astros make a visit to Dodger Stadium for a three-game series from June 23-25.
The Dodgers thus far will be featured on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball twice, with matchups against the Padres on May 7 and New York Yankees on June 4. Furthermore, L.A.’s series finale against the Tampa Bay Rays on May 28 will be streamed exclusively on Peacock.
As was the case with the 2022 season, the Dodgers have the Sunday (July 9) before the All-Star Game off. The Seattle Mariners are hosting the Midsummer Classic at T-Mobile Park on Tuesday, July 11.
The Dodgers wrap up their 2023 schedule with a seven-game road trip against the Rockies and Giants. The final day of the MLB regular season is Sunday, Oct. 1.
