The Los Angeles Dodgers welcomed back Dustin May on Saturday, expect to activate Brusdar Graterol off the 15-day injured list for their series against the Milwaukee Brewers, and may see the returns of Danny Duffy, Victor González, Tommy Kahnle and Blake Treinen over the next few weeks.

Days after manager Dave Roberts deemed it “unlikely” Duffy would pitch this season, the left-hander took the mound in an Arizona Complex League game.

He didn’t allow a hit but gave up a run in his only inning of work. Duffy issued a leadoff walk, which was followed by a hit by pitch, strikeout, groundout, walk and strikeout.

The reported setback Duffy was said to have experienced last weekend in actuality was just being sore.

“So it was some soreness, which players go through, and he came back and threw the baseball really well,” Roberts clarified. “We’re going have a full roster, but I know Duffy’s expectation is to help us at some point, and that’s my hope as well.”

The Dodgers acquired Duffy at the trade deadline last season but he was recovering from a left flexor tendon strain and never threw a pitch for the team. L.A. nevertheless re-signed the veteran to a one-year contract.

Duffy underwent surgery to repair his flexor tendon and hoped to make a return by June.

Injured Dodgers pitchers on the mend

Meanwhile, after pitching for the ACL Dodgers last Tuesday, González continued his rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City. González retired three of four batters faced and tossed a scoreless inning in the seventh. He’s yet to pitch for the Major League club due to left elbow inflammation.

Kahnle, out since May 17, is scheduled to pitch in a second simulated game on Sunday. “His last one, I think he touched 97 (mph),” Roberts said. “So he’s on the come. I don’t know when he’s going to go out (for a rehab assignment), but it’s soon, yes.”

Kahnle only pitched once for the Dodgers this season before being put back on the IL because of right forearm inflammation that stemmed from his Tommy John surgery.

Treinen was scheduled to appear in OKC’s game on Sunday but did not pitch. Roberts had previously estimated Treinen would be reinstated from the 60-day IL in September.

Graterol is expected to be activated on Monday.
