SportsNet LA Wins In 3 Categories Of 2022 Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards

Now in their ninth season as the exclusive home of the Los Angeles Dodgers, Spectrum SportsNet LA again was recognized at the Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards for their in-depth coverage of the team.

SportsNet LA won in the Sports Tease category for their Dodgers reopening day promo that was produced by Bettina Shore and featured Kareem Arnold as editor.

The game against the Philadelphia Phillies on June 15, 2021, represented the first time Dodger Stadium was open to full capacity since the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic began. The Dodgers drew 52,078 in attendance, which set a record at the time.

SportsNet LA additionally won a Los Angeles Area Emmy for “Access SportsNet: Dodgers” in the category of Sports Series, Live Broadcast. The show previously was recognized in 2020 as well.

John Hartung serves as the host of coverage from the SportsNet LA studios and Dodger Stadium, and he’s joined by a rotation of analysts that includes Nomar Garciaparra, Adrián González, Jerry Hairston Jr. and Dontrelle Willis, among others.

Lastly, SportsNet LA took home an Emmy for “This Is Our Year: The 2020 Dodgers” in Sports Special. The featured program reflected on the Dodgers winning the 2022 World Series, their first championship since 1988.

The 74th annual Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards were held at the Television Academy Plaza in North Hollywood. Spectrum News 1 journalist Giselle Fernández hosted this year’s ceremony, which included Hartung, Elex Michaelson, Patrick O’Neal and Sandra O’Neill among the several presenters for individual awards.

SportsNet LA set record ratings in 2021

Last season, SportsNet LA recorded their highest-ever ratings for all of the network’s programming, posting a 12% increase in household rating, going from 2.63 to 2.94. They additionally saw a 5% rise with the ages 25-54 demographic (1.5 vs. 1.43), along with a 5% increase in viewers (244,232 vs. 233,028).
