The 2022 MLB All-Star Game red carpet set up at L.A. Live, where managers and players walked along a path lined by media and fans prior to making their way to Dodger Stadium for the 92nd Midsummer Classic.
Each of the six Los Angeles Dodgers All-Stars walked the red carpet, and manager Dave Roberts and his wife Tricia did as well. Clayton Kershaw, his wife Ellen, and their children, Cali Ann, Charley and Cooper took part in the festivities. The couple was missing only Chance, who was born last December.
Freddie Freeman was joined on the red carpet by his wife Chelsea, and their sons, Charlie, Brandon John and Maximus Turner. Tyler Anderson walked the path with his wife Taitym, and their daughters Halleigh and Brinkleigh.
Mookie Betts was accompanied by wife Brianna and daughter Kynlee. Trea Turner and Kristen briefly had son Beckham with them, and Tony Gonsolin flew solo.
The All-Star red carpet event was emceed by SportsNet LA reporter Kirsten Watson and featured a DJ. Dodgers players naturally were well received, and Los Angeles Angels All-Stars Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani also drew loud cheers.
However, the crowd unleashed boos on San Diego Padres’ Manny Machado and Houston Astros manager Dusty Baker. That was some foreshadowing as they received the same treatment during the All-Star Game at Dodger Stadium.
Kershaw approves of Gonsolin’s All-Star Game suit
While players’ children joining them on the red carpet was a highlight, so too was the tailor-made suit Gonsolin wore. It was courtesy of Kershaw, who arranged for the custom fitting session prior to either pitcher being named to the National League roster.
Unsurprisingly, Gonsolin incorporated two paw prints on the suit jacket. One each for his cats, Blue and Tigger.
“I thought it looked pretty good,” Kershaw said. “I don’t think I could pull it off, but I think he did pretty good with it. There’s definitely a lot of cat theme in there. I’m happy for him. I think he was really excited about it. He looked great.”
