Earlier this month Los Angeles Dodgers co-owner Todd Boehly led a group to purchase Chelsea Football Club, which is based in Fulham, London, and officially completed the deal.
The consortium also included Dodgers owner Mark Walter, founder of the Wyss Foundation Hansjörg Wyss and British property developer Jonathan Goldstein. The group reached an agreement in May to buy Chelsea for $5.33 billion and received all necessary approvals from The Government of the United Kingdom, Premier League, and other authorities.
With the Dodgers and Chelsea now connected by ownership, Chelsea star Mason Mount came to L.A. and received a tour of Dodger Stadium. Mount took photos with the 2020 World Series trophy and received a custom Dodgers jersey with his No. 19 on it.

The 23-year-old began his senior club career with Chelsea in 2017 and joined Vitesse and Derby County on consecutive loans from parts of 2017 through 2019. He has since become a key player for Chelsea and won the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Super Cup in 2021.
Mount additionally won the UEFA European Under-19 Championship with the England national under-19 team in 2017. He made his senior international debut in 2019, at age 20, and was part of the England team at UEFA Euro 2020.
The attacking midfield appeared in 32 Premier League matches and scored 11 goals and 10 assists. Across his three seasons, he’s scored 24 goals with 20 assists.
Boehly committed to bolstering Chelsea’s competitiveness
Boehly, who is the current CEO of Eldridge, and Clearlake Capital Group will share joint control and governance of the team, plus serve as chairman of the holding company.
Boehly and Clearlake said that they are committed to both investing in key areas of the franchise that will extend and enhance Chelseas’s competitiveness in all areas, which includes the redevelopment of Stamford Bridge, and further investment in the Academy, the Women’s Team and Kingsmeadow stadium.
Boehly and the ownership group are committed to deepening the work of the Chelsea Foundation which brings together the Football in the Community and the Education department in addition to international work and anti-discrimination projects.
