Mookie Betts has been on a torrid pace of late and moved into a tie with Rafael Furcal for the Los Angeles Dodgers record of consecutive games with a run scored at 12. Betts tied Furcal’s Dodgers record with a solo home run in the second inning.
Brooklyn’s Gil Hodges (1953), Marv Rackley (1948) and Danny Taylor (1933) also scored a run 12 games in a row. The all-time Dodgers record for consecutive games with at least one run scored is held by Hall of Famer Willie Keeler, who did so for 14 games as a member of the 1901 Brooklyn Superbas.
Standing between Betts and Keeler are Zack Wheat (1925) and Sammy Strang (1903), who both scored a run in 13 straight games. Betts entered the night tied with Corey Seager (2019), Shawn Green (2002), Davey Lopes (1979) and Cookie Lavagetto by scoring a run in 11 straight.
Betts originally was due to be off Tuesday, but Cody Bellinger feeling under the weather prompted a change in the Dodgers’ lineup. Betts responded by going 3-for-4 with two home runs, four RBI, two runs scored and one walk in the 9-4 win. As a team the Dodgers hit four home runs.
Betts has at least one extra-base hit in his last six games, which is three away from tying a Dodgers franchise record that’s shared by John Roseboro (1961) and Jack Fournier (1925).
Now having started in all five games of the Dodgers’ road trip entering Wednesday, Betts has three doubles, four home runs and 10 RBI.
He’s provided a spark atop the Dodgers lineup and been supported by Freddie Freeman and Trea Turner. Freeman is tied for the National League lead with 16 doubles this season, and Turner is in the midst of a 16-game hitting streak.

Despite getting off to a slow start this season, Betts now leads the NL with 12 home runs. He’s slugged nine of those during the month of May, including four in the past four games.
