Julio Urías became the latest Los Angeles Dodgers starter who failed to contain the Philadelphia Phillies lineup, resulting in an 8-3 loss. The Dodgers’ season-worst losing streak was extended to four games and they face the prospect of being swept on Sunday.

Prior to first pitch, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts again heaped praise on Bryce Harper but added, “We have to figure out a way to get him out.”

Harper proceeded to go 3-for-4 with one double, one home run and three RBI. He’s the only visiting player in Dodger Stadium history to have three consecutive games with a home run and at least two extra-base hits.

Harper’s two-out double in the first inning helped jumpstart the Phillies as it was followed by Nick Castellanos reaching on an error, and Jean Segura getting just enough carry on a fly ball to left field for a three-run home run.

The Phillies added to their lead behind Harper’s three-run home run in the third inning, and Kyle Schwarber and Rhys Hoskins each hitting a solo shot in the fourth. It marked the first time in Urías career he surrendered four home runs in a single game.

His previous career high was three homers, given up on June 2, 2016, when Urías was a rookie.

Urías also reached career highs in runs (eight) and extra-base hits (six) during the loss to the Phillies.

The Dodgers’ offense consisted of a Mookie Betts leadoff home run in the first inning and small rally in the fourth. Cody Bellinger delivered a two-run double with one out and the bases loaded, but it was all the Dodgers could manage. The leadoff home run was Betts’ 31st of his career and 11th with the Dodgers.

Phillies starter Ranger Suárez held L.A. to just the three runs and collected six strikeouts over seven innings. He retired the final 11 batters faced.

State of Dodgers pitching

If there was a positive to Urías’ outing, it was completing six innings to help alleviate the burden on a taxed Dodgers bullpen.

The team is in the midst of playing 31 games in 30 days, and are expected to call up Michael Grove for his MLB debut Sunday. The Dodgers will need another spot starter Tuesday for one of the doubleheader games against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
