The ongoing MLB lockout has extended the offseason and provided some players with an opportunity to enjoy more activities away from the field. For Brusdar Graterol, it recently amounted to sharing a video of his progress with learning golf.
Graterol’s video shared to social media showed him driving a golf ball 259 yards — appearing to hit the back netting of the range. Golfing has long been popular among MLB players, and in particular during Spring Training.
Once the Dodgers are together at Camelback Ranch, Graterol certainly will have several Los Angeles Dodgers teammates to golf with and learn from.
Justin Turner annually hosts a golf tournament to benefit his foundation, Mookie Betts recently participated in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, and Walker Buehler played in the Annexus Pro-Am at the Waste Management Phoenix Open.

The power behind Graterol’s drive is on par with what Will Smith has shown on the golf course. Smith was part of a foursome with Turner, Chase Utley and Chris Harrison at the sixth annual Justin Turner Golf Classic, and wowed the group with his ability to strike a golf ball.
Graterol rebounded from struggles
When the Dodgers unexpectedly were in position to trade for Graterol in 2020, the acquisition was touted as a significant one for an organization with a proven track record of developing pitchers.
Graterol emerged as a key relief pitcher en route to the Dodgers winning the World Series, but fell behind in Spring Training last year and faced an uphill battle. A demotion to Triple-A Oklahoma City wound up proving key, and so too did insight from Turner on a mechanical adjustment.
