The Los Angeles Dodgers have a long history of impressive pitchers, and the next wave of prospects being developed include Andre Jackson, Landon Knack, Bobby Miller and Ryan Pepiot, among others.
Jackson made his MLB debut during the 2021 season, and Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman recently suggested that Knack, Miller and Pepiot could enjoy the same experience this year.
“We’ve got some really good guys in place,” Friedman said of the Dodgers potentially looking to their farm system to fill out the starting rotation. “That being said, we’re going to need to address that. We’ve got a really good group of young starting pitchers coming.
“With Mitch White, Andre Jackson, we saw some of this year. Bobby Miller, Ryan Pepiot, Landon Knack will all be in the upper levels or Major League when we start the year. It really gives us a strong foundation and depth, so now rounding the rotation will definitely be something we’re focused on as we get into the winter.”

A 2020 first-rounder from Louisville, Miller logged a 2.40 ERA, .192 opponent average and 70/13 K/BB ratio in 56 1/3 innings between High-A and Double-A in his pro debut this summer before showing the best pure stuff among Arizona Fall League starters. With a heavy fastball that can park in the upper 90s, a sharp mid-80s slider, a developing low-80s curveball and a lively mid-80s changeup, he’ll help the Dodgers as soon as he tightens his command a bit more.
Miller was selected by the Dodgers in the first round (No. 29 overall) of the 2020 MLB Draft. He was included in the organization’s player pool at their alternate training camp that year due to the Minor League season getting cancelled.
Miller’s first experience in professional baseball began with High-A Great Lakes and included a brief stint with Double-A Tulsa. The 22-year-old went 2-2 with a 1.91 ERA over 14 games (11 starts) for the Loons, then struggled a bit with the Drillers as he pitched to a 4.82 ERA in three starts.

After being limited to 56.1 innings during the regular season due to an oblique strain, Miller enjoyed pitching against some of the best Minor League competition in the Arizona Fall League.
