The final day of the 2021 MLB regular season arrived with the potential for chaos as the two American League Wild Card spots were undecided and the National League West winner had not been determined.
Each of the races were ultimately settled without the need for tiebreakers, with the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees punching their ticket to the postseason, and the San Francisco Giants clinching their first division title since 2012.
The Los Angeles Dodgers, after tying a franchise record with 106 wins, will host the St. Louis Cardinals in the NL Wild Card Game on Wednesday.
TBS will exclusively broadcast the one-game playoff, with first pitch at Dodger Stadium set for 5:10 p.m. PT.
Max Scherzer will take the ball for the Dodgers and goes up against longtime Cardinals ace Adam Wainwright. It’s the teams’ first postseason meeting since the 2014 NL Division Series.
The AL Wild Card Game between the Yankees and Red Sox will take place on Tuesday, with exclusive coverage being provided by ESPN.
The Division Series and League Championship Series will be carried by FOX, FS1, MLB Network and TBS. The World Series will exclusively be broadcast on FOX.
