The Los Angeles Dodgers City Connect jersey was officially unveiled, which the team will debut on the field against the New York Mets on Friday and wear them again Saturday. The Dodgers were among the inaugural seven teams selected by Nike to take part in the series this season.
“The Dodger uniform is an iconic part of the franchise’s identity. While our traditional look has and will always be worn by the franchise-great players, the City Connect program offered us the opportunity to recognize the impact and importance of our multicultural fanbase,” Dodgers executive vice president and chief marketing officer Lon Rosen said in a statement.
“We’re excited to debut these City Connect uniforms on the field and know our fans will enjoy seeing ‘Los Dodgers’ on the uniforms as well as our new murals, which bring Los Angeles’ street art culture to Dodger Stadium.”
The Dodgers’ Nike City Connect uniform features nods to a fanbase with Latino influence. The jersey has “Los Dodgers” across the chest and black spray-painted accents on the sleeves represent the city’s street art culture and murals. The left sleeve also includes the team’s “LA” logo in white.
The Dodgers’ look is completed with blue paints and a blue cap that also features “Los Dodgers” across the top in place of the traditional logo.

The Boston Red Sox were the first to debut an alternate uniform from Nike on April 17, and they have since been followed by the Miami Marlins (May 21), Chicago White Sox (June 5), Chicago Cubs (June 12), Arizona Diamondbacks (June 18) and San Francisco Giants (July 9)
The Dodgers faced the Diamondbacks when their “Serpientes” City Connect jersey was worn for the first time — and again in late July. The Dodgers also played against the Giants in their Golden Gate Bridge look last month during a game at Oracle Park.
Reaction to Dodgers’ City Connect jersey
While the official unveiling did not come until Thursday, a Nike advertisement offered an early glimpse at the look late Sunday night, which DodgerBlue.com was first to discover.
The majority of Dodgers fans expressed disappointment in the design, with the most popular complaints being it is too similar to the team’s blue jersey used during Spring Training and a desire for the script to read “Los Doyers” instead.
