The Los Angeles Dodgers have been without Trevor Bauer since July as he was placed on administrative leave by Major League Baseball due to being under investigation for alleged sexual assault.
While the league and Pasadena Police Department continue with their separate investigations, The Washington Post detailed similar allegations from an Ohio woman last year who obtained a temporary order of protection because of incidents in 2017 and 2018.
Ohio law allows citizens to obtain a restraining order against individuals who have caused the petitioner to believe they “will cause physical harm to the other person or a family or household member of the other person or cause mental distress to the other person or a family or household member of the other person.”
The petitioner must demonstrate good cause — including, but not limited to, a threat of bodily harm.
Having been silent since the San Diego woman brought forth allegations, Bauer chose to address the prior incident that now has him — and the Dodgers — facing more scrutiny.
While I have allowed my representatives to speak on my behalf over the last six weeks, I can no longer be silent. I will speak very candidly about the current petition when appropriate, but need to address the allegations made today in The Washington Post. pic.twitter.com/VhDNQyM1cb

Bauer’s latest administrative leave was extended Friday and now runs through Aug. 20. He is due in court for hearings from Aug. 16-19 for the temporary restraining order currently in place.
The hearings originally were scheduled to begin on July 23 but got delayed after Bauer’s attorney requested more time to review information. They then were rescheduled to Aug. 2, 3 and 19, before being moved again to their latest dates.
Even if Bauer ultimately isn’t arrested or face criminal charges, MLB commissioner Rob Manfred has the authority to levy a suspension under the joint domestic violence policy.
Dodgers distancing from Bauer
Last month the Dodgers cancelled Trevor Bauer bobblehead night on their 2021 promotional and giveaways calendar, and removed his merchandise from the team’s website and Dodger Stadium stores.
More recently it was reported a majority of the Dodgers clubhouse does not want Bauer to return to the team, regardless of how the investigations conclude.
