The Los Angeles Dodgers announced a new partnership with Therabody, formerly known as Theragun, to integrate percussive massage therapy devices and pneumatic compression devices into their training and recovery programs to help improve player health and overall team performance.
The Dodgers specifically selected Therabody, which is known for its cutting-edge technology and industry-leading research and development, to help improve the recovery of players and educate them on the importance of effective whole-body wellness solutions, both on and off the field.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Therabody to make their industry-leading products available to our players,” Dodgers director of player performance Brandon McDaniel said in a statement.
“With performance and recovery being significant priorities for our organization, this partnership with Therabody will ensure that we’re equipped with the technology that we need to put our players in the best position to succeed.”
Therabody will custom build a section in the dugout for players to use devices — such as the Theragun PRO and Wave Roller — during games and workouts, and additional carts of devices will be available in the bullpen, weight room and recovery room.
“I’m thrilled that we have been selected by this incredible team to help improve the wellbeing of their players,” said Therabody founder and chief wellness officer Dr. Jason Wersland.
“Supporting athletes in any sport is core to who we are, and each athlete — especially in baseball — cares for their bodies differently depending on which position they play. Being able to customize each player’s protocol, and provide them with the technology, research, and education around how they can effectively take care of themselves will be key throughout the course of a 162-game season.”
Theragun was created in 2008 and officially launched in 2016 by Dr. Wersland after he suffered a life-altering injury. Theragun is the most trusted percussive massage therapy device among professional sports teams, athletes, trainers and physical therapists in more than 60 countries.
