With Thursday marking Opening Day of the 2021 regular season, SportsNet LA unveiled a new intro video for their broadcast, which was narrated by Joe Davis.
A little more than two minutes long, the video intertwined Dodgers legends with players from the current core roster. Davis’ voice was accompanied by photos and highlights of Tommy Lasorda, Don Sutton, Jackie Robinson, Sandy Koufax and current players.
The video also featured Vin Scully calling the Dodgers’ first World Series title won in L.A. franchise history, the final out of Fernando Valenzuela’s no-hitter, and mention of the L.A. Lakers also winning a title last season along with Kobe Bryant’s impact.
Davis and SportsNet LA also paid tribute to healthcare workers, who have worked tirelessly over the past year despite facing unprecedented pressure and challenges.

“It’s been a long time coming, hasn’t it? It’s got a nice ring to it, doesn’t it? Los Angeles, champions,” Davis began to close out. “How about we did it again? This time, all celebrate together. Welcome to 2021.”
Davis shared the video on social media, which then was played when SportsNet LA began their coverage one hour before first pitch and again once Davis and Orel Hershiser were set to go live on the air.
SportsNet LA coverage of Dodgers
SportsNet LA is now in its eighth season as the Dodgers’ exclusive network. After carrying every Spring Training matchup this year, they will air more than 150 games throughout the course of the regular season.
SportsNet LA’s comprehensive coverage includes pregame programming with “Leadoff LA” and “Access SportsNet: Dodgers.” John Hartung returned to anchor studio coverage, where he is joined by a rotation of Nomar Garciaparra, Jerry Hairston Jr. and Ned Colletti.
