The Los Angeles Dodgers designated Jordan Jankowski for assignment on Saturday in order to create room on the 40-man roster for the addition of Wilmer Font. Jankowski was claimed off waivers from the Houston Astros on Aug. 20.
He recorded a save and allowed four runs in three innings across three games with Triple-A Oklahoma City. At the time of being claimed, Jankowski essentially filled the open spot on the 40-man roster that had been vacated when the Dodgers sent Jacob Rhame to the New York Mets as the player to be named later to complete the Curtis Granderson trade.
Jankowski was selected by the Astros in the 34th round of the 2012 Draft. The right-hander made his MLB debut this season on May 24 and allowed two runs on two hits, including a home run, but otherwise struck out the side during his inning of work against the Detroit Tigers.
Jankowski allowed four runs on five hits (two home runs) in 2.1 innings during a second relief appearance, then threw a scoreless inning in a third game with the Astros.
The Astros designated Jankowski for assignment on Aug. 14 in a corresponding move to select the contract of Max Stassi, who replaced Brian McCann on the active roster when he was placed on the disabled list.
Aside from his time with the Astros and Oklahoma City, Jankowski spent the bulk of this season with Triple-A Fresno, where he was 2-3 with a 5.13 ERA in 37 games.
Jankowski is a career 24-16 with 33 saves, a 3.52 ERA and 1.20 WHIP in 237 games (88 starts) across six seasons in the Minors.
