While the Los Angeles Dodgers faced another left-hander in the form of Arizona Diamondbacks starter Patrick Corbin, he is someone the team has enjoyed plenty of success against. Corbin entered a lifetime 3-7 with a 4.33 ERA and 1.51 WHIP in 14 games (12 starts) against the Dodgers.

Included that is a stretch since the 2015-16 seasons, where the 27-year-old went 0-5 with a 4.89 ERA in his past seven games (six starts). Corbin got off to a rocky start Saturday night, failing to retire the first three batters faced.

Logan Forsythe doubled, Corey Seager followed with an RBI single, and Justin Turner also doubled. Yasiel Puig’s sacrifice fly put the Diamondbacks in a 2-0 deficit before Corbin could get out of the inning.

Kenta Maeda failed to protect the lead in the second inning, and the Diamondbacks and Dodgers went back-and-forth through the fifth inning.

Then, with the Dodgers clinging to a one-run lead in the eighth, Puig lined a three-run home run to left field off Diamondbacks reliever Fernando Rodney:

Puig finished the night 3-for-3 with four RBI. The home run was his fourth of the season, which is a team-high, and so too are Puig’s 10 RBI. He enters play Sunday batting .333/.440/.692, having started in all 12 games.

Puig previously remarked one of his focal points this season is on hitting the ball in the air, so to ensure he puts money in his pocket.
