After getting blown out by the Cleveland Indians on Monday, the Los Angeles Dodgers look to bounce back against the Milwaukee Brewers at Camelback Ranch, with Hyun-Jin Ryu facing off against Matt Garza. The Dodgers and Brewers have split their first two meetings, and Tuesday’s matchup is their last of Spring Training.
Ryu has pitched surprisingly well this spring after compiling just 27.2 innings last season between the Minors and the Majors. He’s only thrown five innings across two Cactus League starts, but has allowed just one run and struck out six.
Ryu should stretch out to four innings of work against the Brewers. Luis Avilan, Josh Fields, Chris Hatcher and Ross Stripling are also scheduled to pitch.
Garza is the veteran of the Milwaukee’s staff, though his performance thus far has been uninspiring. In four starts, he’s allowed eight runs in 8.2 innings, surrendering 14 hits and four walks while recording zero strikeouts.
The Dodgers haven’t seen him much during the regular season, with Justin Turner having the most success, going 3-for-7 with a home run. Turner is batting third in the Dodgers’ lineup on Tuesday.
News of Andre Ethier’s mild disc herniation figures to create more opportunities in left field for Andrew Toles, who starts and bats second. Toles is hitting .286/.286/.657 with one double, one triple and three RBI in 12 games.
The Brewers have been led this spring by center fielder Keon Broxton, who is batting .395/.489/.737 with two doubles, three home runs and 10 RBI.
