The Los Angeles Dodgers and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim meet for a second time in three days, with Monday’s matchup taking place at Tempe Diablo Stadium. Los Angeles defeated Anaheim, 8-2, at Camelback Ranch on Sunday.
They’ll next face off in the exhibition Freeway Series from March 30-April 1. Whereas the Dodgers saw an Angels lineup without several marquee players, Kenta Maeda draws the likes of Kole Calhoun, Albert Pujols and Mike Trout, among others.
Pujols is making his third start of the spring, with all coming as the designated hitter. He’s 1-for-4 with one double and two walks thus far.
Rich Hill was initially slated to start, though he and Maeda have been swapped in the rotation order, breaking up left-handers Clayton Kershaw and Hill.
Maeda is 0-1 with a 6.75 ERA and 1.75 WHIP in two Cactus League starts. He’s thrown two innings in each of his outings. Trevor Oaks and Josh Ravin are among the relievers expected to appear in Monday’s game.
The Dodgers face Ricky Nolasco, who was with the team for the second half of the 2013 season. Nolasco is 1-0 with a 1.80 ERA and 1.00 WHIP in two starts this spring.
After making his 2017 debut against the Angels on Saturday, Trayce Thompson is again in the lineup. He starts in center field and bats third. Chase Utley is at second base and leading off, while Justin Turner starts at third base and hits back of Utley.
