Since the Los Angeles Dodgers elected to demote Yasiel Puig to Triple-A Oklahoma City nearly two weeks ago the 25-year-old outfielder has remained a fixture in headlines.
Puig didn’t join Oklahoma City until Sunday, needing to first clear optional waivers. Puig went 2-for-4 with one double and three RBIs in his first career Triple-A game. It came in a losing effort, and Oklahoma City dropped their next game.
After the second consecutive road loss, Puig and his Oklahoma City teammates spent time together in the clubhouse and later that evening on a part buys.
Videos of the players drinking, yelling and singing along to loud music went public, and viral, via Puig’s Snapchat account.
Puig looked to put that behind him on Friday night in his first home game with Oklahoma City. The enigmatic outfielder turned in a strong performance, going 3-for-5 with four RBIs, which included this three-run homer:
The home run was Puig’s second in as many games. He finished Friday’s game a double shy of hitting for the cycle, coming up empty in his final two at-bats of the night.
In four games with Oklahoma City, Puig is 7-for-16 (.438) with one double, one triple, two home runs and nine RBIs. He’s sporting a .500 on-base percentage and 1.000 slugging.
