Los Angeles Dodgers Spanish language broadcaster Jorge Jarrín, son of Hall of Famer Jaime Jarrín, announced his retirement after spending 17 seasons with the organization.
Jorge Jarrín began his career in 1985 as a helicopter traffic reporter for KABC radio. His entrance into baseball came in 2001 via DIRECTV’s “Major League Baseball Game of the Week,” which was broadcast in Latin America.
Jarrín joined the Dodgers in 2004 as their Manager of Radio Broadcast Sales and Hispanic Initiatives. He then became a member of the broadcast team in 2012, calling games on television alongside Manny Mota and joined his father in the radio booth three years later.
“You would think this would be a very difficult decision to make, but I just knew the time was right and I leave with a tremendous sense of gratitude for the Dodger organization,” Jarrín said in a statement.
“To end with a World Championship is the cherry on top of a dream 32 years in the making! Fortunately for our fans, my dad — the Marathon Man — will continue.”
The Jarríns formed the first-ever father-son broadcasting team on MLB Spanish-language radio and were on the call last year when the Dodgers won their first World Series since 1988.
“We congratulate Jorge on 35 award-winning years in broadcasting and thank him for his 17 years of service to the Dodger organization,” Dodgers senior vice president of marketing, communications and broadcasting Erik Braverman said.
“Jorge was truly an organizational asset, always willing to generously lend his time for community events and his kindness shining through his calls of Dodger baseball. It’s so fitting that Jorge’s final broadcast was the Dodgers’ World Series-clinching victory.”

Beyond the broadcast booth, the Jarríns came together to form the Jaime & Blanca Jarrín Foundation. It was established in memory of Blanca Jarrín, wife to Jaime and mother to Jorge, who passed away in 2019.
“We really felt this was the time to launch this foundation and make it just as much about her and her legacy as much as my father’s legacy,” Jorge told DodgerBlue.com in an exclusive interview.
“One doesn’t exist without the other. They’re so intertwined, they form such a cohesive unit. My mom being the glue that held it all together has been very remarkable and worthy of creating this foundation to inspire others who also have dreams like my mom and dad.”
