The Los Angeles Dodgers selected Cal Poly left-hander Jakob Wright in the fourth round, No. 128 overall in the 2024 MLB Draft.

Wright is ranked as the 146th prospect in the draft by MLB Pipeline.

The slot value of the 128th overall pick is $556,300. They may be able to sign him for under the slot value as a college pitcher who is entering his Junior season in 2025.

According to MLB Pipeline, Wright has an elite slider that could grade out as a 70 on the 20-80 scale in the future thanks to it’s elite spin and sweep.

His fastball sits around 92 mph, and he also features a cutter and changeup. The lack of his overall premium stuff makes scouts question if he can be a starter in the long-term, but he should be an effective reliever at minimum thanks to his slider with a chance to be more.

He is also an athletic pitcher, which is something the Dodgers have targeted recently, and that athleticism should help compensate for his somewhat small stature for a pitcher at just 6-feet tall and 170 pounds.

Wright underwent surgery in 2022 to insert an internal brace into his elbow, and his college career is limited because of that.

He grades out as having a 50 fastball, 65 slider, 50 cutter, 45 changeup, 45 control and a 45 overall.

The southpaw posted a 2.97 ERA across 88 innings during the 2024 season, striking out 101 hitters and walking 42.

On Sunday, the Dodgers selected high school shortstop Kellon Lindsey, who is expected to sign his professional contract and skip on his college commitment to the University of Florida.

The Dodgers began their second day drafting by selecting high school third baseman Chase Harlan with the 98th overall pick in the third round of the draft.

The Dodgers lost their second- and fifth-round draft picks for signing Shohei Ohtani, but they still have five picks remaining for today.

Round 6: 190th overall ($315,500)
Round 7: 220th overall ($247,900)
Round 8: 250th overall ($205,800)
Round 9: 280th overall ($188,800)
Round 10: 310th overall ($179,000)
