Connor Joe was returned to the Los Angeles Dodgers after being designated for assignment by the San Francisco Giants and clearing waivers. Joe was selected by the Cincinnati Reds during the 2018 Rule 5 Draft.

The pick cost the Reds $100,000, which the Dodgers received in compensation. Former Dodgers general manager reunited with Joe when the Giants acquired the infielder/outfielder from the Reds last month in exchange for Jordan Johnson and cash considerations.

Joe appeared in eight games (five starts) for the Giants, which included being in the lineup for two of the three games against the Dodgers. Joe had just one hit in 15 at-bats during his brief tenure with San Francisco. It marked his first experience at the Major League level.

Joe was initially acquired by the Joe was acquired from the Atlanta Braves in September 2017 in exchange for international signing bonus pool space. Joe spent the 2018 season with Double-A Tulsa and Triple-A Oklahoma City, hitting a combined .299/.408/.527 with 26 doubles, 17 home runs and 55 RBI.

Joe presumably will spend time with either of the two affiliates, perhaps even both, this season. He joins Drew Jackson in players the Dodgers lost in last year’s Rule 5 Draft, only to be back with the organization.
